This apple crisp recipe came from one of my momtourage friends, Bethany. It is seriously one of the best apple crisp recipes I have ever tasted – the oats make it delicious. I’ve made this with all varieties of apples, but Honeycrisp is my favorite apple to use in this recipe. Our family loves to eat this with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream!
The Best Apple Crisp Recipe You'll Ever Make
- Heat your oven to 350. In a large mixing bowl, stir together sugar (white,) apples, lemon juice, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and 1/4 teaspoon of the salt. Transfer mixture to an 8 inch or 2 quart baking dish.
- Melt the butter in a saucepan, and remove from heat. Add brown sugar, 1/4 remaining teaspoon of the salt, flour, and oats. Mix well until just incorporated. Be careful not to over mix, as the crisp will come out too chewy. You want to aim for a consistency like cookie dough.
- Sprinkle on top of apple mixture, and bake for 50-60 minutes.
